A LUCID MOMENT

Thomas Schwartz
A LUCID MOMENT

A playful game of discrete affection
I quell the urges to madly lick her face
With an undulating breath she leads me back to lucidity
“What are you thinking?”
I think about what I’m thinking about only to realize
something doesn’t make sense.
“How easy it is for me to fall off of the earth when I’m with you.”
Our lips meet as soul parts with flesh
Parts of me remain flesh
others drift off towards the ethers
Ether flows through my capillaries
like Jimson flowers on the banks of Colorado river
Deep canyons of longing fulfilled by your formless breath
Face down, I float down the river of your love.
