AAAlliance @ the Wright Gallery :: Sat Jan 16 :: JTNY
In honor of the brand new decade and a new era of collaboration within our downtown arts community, the Active Artists Alliance will be presenting a show of all new paintings from Angela Caley, Bill Thomas, Casey Brink, and David Grice during the months of January and February. This show represents the first AAAlliance group showcase to take place in the Arts Council's Wright Gallery.

Throughout the first 5 years of it's existence, the Active Artists Alliance has always functioned totally independently, proudly sticking to the D.I.Y. work ethic of the Chautauqua County artists who originally launched the project. Now that the 5 year milestone has passed, the AAAlliance is seeking to form stronger working relationships with some of the individuals involved with other local Arts Organizations, as well as members of the downtown business community who understand the value of a vibrant downtown Art & Music scene.

The opening reception for this group show will also serve as a kind of informal meeting for anyone who is interested in further supporting the arts in our community, or getting more involved with the events & programming that the AAAlliance, Infinity, and the Arts Council for Chautauqua County provide. As part of their combined efforts in 2010, these three groups will be working hard to begin organizing classes and workshops for the new Visual Arts branch of the Infinity Performing Arts Program. Information will be on hand at the opening for anyone who wants to help us make things happen.

The opening reception will take place on Saturday, January 16, from 6-10 pm in the Wright Gallery and Conference Center, Arts Council Bldg, 116 East Third St, JTNY.

After Party from 10-2 @ MOJO's with live rocking and rolling from Thee Audience, The Orphans, and Ghost Shirt.

Halloween Night Part 2 :: JTNY
Brothers Curry and Fluvanna Beachcomber have been throwing this monthly shingdig at Forte (our favorite downtown dining option) for nearly two years now, and still can't grok what their own secret formula is that keeps 'em coming back.

The big idea is to spin a different genre of music every 20 minutes or so (surprise!), just to keep things interesting. In one night the tunes can swing from Hot Pink Delorean to The Sweet to Little Feat to Vivian Girls to Afrika Bambaataa to Loretta Lynn to PiL to Junior Boys and there's no telling what tipsy Jamestonians will dance to after 1 am, but it's usually a hot mess. Add guest DJ Andrew Harrington and costumes to that ... yeah!

Free. 10 pm, FORTE, 114 East 3rd Street (716) 484-6063.
