All Decks on Hand :: CALL FOR ARTISTS

- CALL FOR ARTISTS - "All Decks on Hand #4" skateboard deck art show

3rd on 3rd Gallery
116 East 3rd Street Jamestown, NY 14701

Submissions due by October 1, 2014.
Opening Reception & Auction on Friday October 17.

We are seeking donations of original hand-painted or customized skateboard decks, sculptural artworks made from skateboard decks, or any other skateboard-related art pieces. All works will be sold in a live auction immediately following the opening reception at 3rd on 3rd Gallery. All proceeds will go into our Jamestown Skatepark Fund, which was established to benefit free public skateparks in Chautauqua County, and to give the grassroots Skateboarding community more input into the design and location of future public skatepark projects.

This is the Fourth consecutive year that the Active Artists Alliance, Jamestown Skate Products, and the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts have teamed up to organize this celebration of our local fine art and skateboarding communities. To date these events have raised over $4000, putting us more than halfway to our original goal of $8k. This year, we would like to raise the other half of that. We are reaching out to our extended network of artist and designer friends, and asking for their help by either donating a piece for the show and auction, or just by spreading the word and helping us promote the show online and in person to as many people as possible.

We have depleted our stock of new blank decks, but we do have a large supply of used, worn skateboard decks, both whole and broken in half, available for artists to work on. The used decks can be sanded to a completely smooth finish fairly easily, or can be used rough to take advantage of the texture. The Active Artists Alliance will cover shipping costs to get decks into the hands of interested artists on a first come, first served basis. The finished skate decks are needed back at 3rd on 3rd Gallery in Jamestown by October 1. Unsold works become the property of Active Artists Alliance, to be shown and sold at future fundraising events for the Jamestown Skatepark Fund.

Interested artists and designers should contact the Active Artists Alliance for more info: AAAllianceWNY(at)gmail(dot)com

When contacting us, please include your mailing address, and whether you would prefer to work with a whole skateboard deck, or a few broken half-decks.
